Data processing at Mesensei

Data protection and your privacy are important to Mesensei. We process your personal data based on your consent and our legitimate interests in developing our products and business. The legal framework for our data processing is the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

On this site, that means improving the site, our sales process and our service offering, and collecting visit statistics and other metrics so we understand our audiences and customers.

If you contact us about our products, ask for assistance, request new features or suggest improvements, we may reply to you and tell you about new versions of the app. This is normal customer relationship management, based on our legitimate interest. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails. You can opt out of our messages, and object to the use of your personal data for marketing and communication, by writing to hello@mesensei.com.

If you contact customer service with a service request, feedback or an improvement suggestion, we process your personal data to reply to you and, for example, to improve our service offering.

We may use the personal data you give us for data combinations as part of marketing research, insight, product offering promotions, service desk improvement and other business development.

Personal data may also be processed to fulfil accounting and bookkeeping obligations, and to carry out requests by law enforcement agencies in accordance with due legal process.

Your actions on this site may or may not be directly or indirectly related to these processing needs.

What the site collects

• Server logs. When you open a page, our host Netlify records the request: your IP address, the time, the page, the page you came from, and your browser and device type. We need this to run the site and keep it secure.
• Visit statistics, only if you accept. We use Google Analytics 4 to see where visitors come from, which pages are read and how many click through to Google Play. It records pages viewed, time on page, approximate location (country or city, worked out from your IP address), device and browser type, traffic source, and clicks on the Google Play buttons. Nothing is sent to Google until you accept. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy.
• Search data. Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools give us totals on how people find the site: queries, impressions, clicks and average position per page. It is not data about you personally.
• Google Play links. The "Get it on Google Play" buttons carry the name of the page you were on, so Google Play can report which page an install came from. Once you are on Google Play, Google's privacy policy applies.
• Emails. If you write to hello@mesensei.com, we keep your message and your address so we can reply.

Cookies

The site sets cookies only if you accept analytics.

Your choices

• Analytics. Accept or decline at the top of this notice. You can change your mind at any time. Withdrawing deletes the Google cookies and stops anything being sent. Declining changes nothing else on the site.
• Your browser. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings.
• Your rights. You can ask us for access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction, or a copy you can move. You can object to processing that we do for our legitimate interests, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to hello@mesensei.com. Much of what the site handles is technical or pseudonymous, so we may need more information from you to find your data.
• Complaints. You can complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto, tietosuoja.fi).

Who receives data from the site

• Netlify, Inc. hosts the site and receives the technical request data, including your IP address.
• Google (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC) provides Google Analytics, which it runs for us under its data processing terms, and Search Console. Google signals and advertising features are off in our account. Sharing data to improve Google's products is off. Our account also lets Google use aggregated, de-identified data for benchmarking and modelling, send us tips, and access our data for support when needed.
• Google Workspace runs our email, including the mailbox behind hello@mesensei.com.
• Microsoft provides Bing Webmaster Tools, which gives us search totals for the site.

Transfers outside the EU and EEA

Netlify and Google LLC are US companies, so data can be processed in the US and other countries where they operate. Both are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has recognised as providing adequate protection for certified US companies. If that framework stops applying, they rely on the EU standard contractual clauses.

How long the data is stored

• Google Analytics data: 2 months.
• Server logs: up to 30 days, as set by Netlify.
• Emails: as long as needed to deal with your matter, then deleted, unless the law or our accounting requires us to keep them.
• Your cookie choice: until you change it or clear your browser data.

Changes

We update this notice by publishing a new version on this page with a new effective date.
